Choosing the perfect wall color to go with your Amish furniture is really quite easy. The nice thing about Amish furniture is it can go with just about any color décor. Whether you are spiffing up a room in your home or decorating for a new home, choosing your wall color is not as stressful as you may think it is.
A safe bet is always neutral colors but not everyone wants a neutral color in their home. Some people like to incorporate bright vibrant colors that match their personalities. With Amish furniture, you can have it either way. For lighter shades of Amish furniture, if you don’t want them to fade into the background, go with deeper neutrals. Another option is using complementary colors. Use a color wheel and look at complementary colors that are opposite on the color wheel (e.g. red/green, blue/orange, yellow/purple). This is a bolder look, but if you have a bold personality, then you will be happy with the results.
Before painting, choose many paint color samples and hold them against your wall to help you get a feel for the colors. Tape them to your wall and live with them a few days to even get a better feel for it, and give others and opportunity to give their input. The great thing about paint is you can always paint over it if you do not like it. However, it is a lot of work so it is best if you just paint a small section of a wall if you are making drastic changes in color and living with it a few days before committing to it. This way it is less to cover if you decide the color was not delivering the feeling you looking for.

This would look awsome with my china displayed in it. It doesn't mention if there is lighting inside or not. I would prefer it, but we could also add it ourselves if it doesn't come with it.
ReplyDeleteI love the few Amish built pieces of furniture that I own. I'm always on the look out for the next piece. It has to 'talk' to me before I'll buy it. It lasts nearly forever and I want to make sure I won't get tired of the style. As for the wall color, that furniture will only make any color look better!
ReplyDeleteI used to think the walls had to be neutral colors because that's what my parents used. I've gotten a little braver in my old age and I find that a like pastels too. You're right about the Amish built furniture, it makes any color look good.
ReplyDeleteI bet I considered 20 paint colors before I decided to use one of the colors from the china I had in my hutch. It looks really nice and the furniture looks great too. It really pulls your eye to the china and I like that because it's my pride and joy.
