Kitchens are the control center of any home. When guest come, generally the first place everyone goes is to the kitchen table. When the kids come home from school, their first stop is the kitchen to raid the frig and leave their markings behind on the kitchen table. The kitchen table is the collect all for everyone in the homes world, from school work, to brief cases, to groceries, to toys, to dishes, to mail, to permission slips, to coats on backs of chairs and book bags and just about anything else one could conceivable think of. If it is lost, check the kitchen table.
It goes without saying that every kitchen needs a solid and sturdy kitchen table to handle all the types of traffic it receives. Amish kitchen tables are the perfect choice if you want a table that can take a beating and still continue to stand and shine. But does that mean your table has to take the blunt of the abuse? No- not if you put a few strategic pieces of Amish furnishing about to take some of that burden away from your table.
28" Shaker hall seat
Have this handy sitting bench/coat rack/storage compartment near your main entry way, the door your children, husband, or wife for that matter enters into your home. This will quickly become the spot where coats, book bags, shoes, and brief cases finding their nesting spot. The training to hang items accordingly is left up to you. But human nature is to drop the luggage as soon as possible, so make it a quick drop before it ever reaches your table.
Notepad with Letter Holder - Cherry
Wicker Basket, Fruit-Small
Depending on who is bringing in the mail, and the concern level will determine where would be the best location for a mail basket or a hanging mail holder in your home. If the retriever has little concern for what is in the daily mail, set the basket near the entryway and accessories with a organizer near your desk. If they are a bit more reliable, you can center your mail deposit basket near where you do your bills.
Now you may ask, what does any of this have to do with decorating your kitchen. Well by removing the family clutter out of the kitchen and training the household gently by leaving their deposits elsewhere leaves you kitchen clutter free and ready for unexpected guest. If a clutter free kitchen isn’t the finest aspect of decorating, I would like to know what is. :-)

The Cherry Notepad with Letter Holder is just what I need by the phone. It never fails, I need a pen and paper when I'm on the phone and there's never any within grabbing distance. Since this would be attached to the wall, I might have a chance to keep it loaded.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally in love with the Shaker Hall Seat. I need to go get the measuring tape and see if it would fit for what I have in mind. Then I need to work on hubby. I have a birthday coming up and I'd love to have that on my list.
ReplyDeleteThe majority of my day is spent in the kitchen. My day starts at 6:00 am fixing breakfast for my family. Several of them are gone through the day but I still have a toddler at home. My laundry room is off of the kitchen so I'm in and out of there too. Mid-day I'm fixing lunch and after cleanup it's time to start dinner. Everyone pitches in to clean up the kitchen so I'm done around 6:30. My Amish made table and chairs make it easy to be happy in that one room most of the day. When company comes, that's where we migrate too. It's just a nice cozy room with a great dining set.
ReplyDeleteI adore baskets and the two wicker baskets would look right at home in my living room and front hall. I have baskets scattered throughout the house and use them in a variety of ways. I'm thinking they would make an awsome Mother's Day gift.
ReplyDeleteThe Shaker Hall Seat was just delivered this morning and it looks every bit as good as I thought it would. It's the first thing you see when you walk into the front door. The quality of the piece is evident with your first glance. No one will be able to pass it without making a comment. Beautiful is good, functional is better!
ReplyDeleteI have a huge kitchen and I've had thoughts of remodeling ever since we moved into the house 8 years ago. It finally made it to the top of my honey-do list. This is the first site that came to mind when I started thinking about furniture. The Shaker Hall Seat will just fit right inside of the back door. I found the table and chairs I want too. Nick still has to measure to make sure it will fit, but I'm confident that it will, even with the extra leaf in. I don't remember being this excited at Christmas when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteI just go back from a trip to see my sister. She just got a dining room outfit from your site and I totally fell in love with it. I've been wanting to replace my existing set but couldn't decide what type of table I wanted. I may not get the exact one she has but I know I want the quality of Amish made.
