One thing that has stood strong through out Amish furniture history is its durability and the high craftsmanship that goes into each piece created. Even as new pieces enter into the Amish furniture line, those same qualities remain as true as the first piece that has ever left their workshops. Amish hutches, probably one of the more difficult pieces the Amish create is a impeccable example of the high quality and beauty that goes into each piece of Amish furniture, regardless of the difficulty of the piece. Amish hutches share similarities with other kinds of hutches, but there are also several differences as well and by looking at those difference will show why Amish Hutches rank first when it comes to quality, durability and craftsmanship.
First of all, all hutches are similar in that they can include various chest-like cabinets that are raised on four legs and have either doors or drawers in front. Sometimes hutches also have open shelves above. This description is pretty typical for most hutches, regardless of if they are Amish hutches or hutches made in a factory. While there are many similarities, the differences can be staggering.
Perhaps the biggest difference between Amish hutches and many other hutches that you may find on the market is the hand craftsmanship that goes into them. Uniquely to Amish furnishings is that each piece of wood that goes into creating each piece of furniture is hand selected and crafted. The wood selected is done so by not only the type of wood, but the actual durability of each piece and quality of each piece. Unlike factories where the wood is merely stacked and used as it comes regardless of any flaws or weak spots. That is what makes Amish Hutches a hutch you can count on turning into a family heirloom.
The Amish take pride in their work and they don’t build furniture just for the profit just to make a profit. If that was the case, they could make a whole lot more money running some assembly lines in a factory like other furniture makers do. While you can find hutches that look similar to Amish hutches, but if you want one that will last, get a hutch built by the Amish.
