Amish Made Toys

How many of you remember having a wooden peg bench as a toy when you were young? I know I do and I loved it. I would spend hours in my toddler days just pounding away, although my aim wasn’t the best in the beginning, over time I was hitting as if I was a carpenter hitting the nail on the head every time. Because I could recall this toy as a child, of course I provided my own children with it. It was like looking back in time as I watched on while my kids mastered it over time. It was handed down to each and withheld the test of time and a whole lot of pounding.

There is just something about the simplicity in the Amish made wooden toys that draw me to them. There simplicity plays into a child’s imagination and there is no better thing a toy can do then that. How many of you recall any of these other Amish made wooden toys. Share your memories of them as a child or maybe you were not introduced to them until you had a child of your own.

  1. I had a marble roller, but it sure wasn't as nice as this one. My peg bench and hammer was totally worn out by the time I got done with it. It was painted, but even with that you can tell the quality wasn't near as good.

  2. When I saw the marble bird flipper I just had to order it for my husband. He's a writer and when he runs into a problem with a story he tinkers with this type of toy for a while until the juices start flowing again. I know he's going to love it. He may have to share it with the kids, but I'm sure they will figure it out.

  3. I prefer the Amish made toys because of the superior workmanship. If at all possible I head to a neighboring town where there is an Amish store. Finding your site online gives me another option. I'll be back often. Christmas and birthdays for sure.

  4. The push toy duck is so cute. My toddler will like it to. He loves to walk and push toys. I've ordered it and can't wait for it to arrive.
