Redoing a Child’s to Teen Bedroom

Isn’t it great when your kids are toddlers and when you play your cards right, you can outfit them with the perfect bed that will take them through at least 1st or 2nd grade? It’s too bad they don’t stay those sweet tender ages, but unfortunately, they grow older. They grow bigger. They grow more demanding. And they grow their own taste! No more decorating your child’s rooms in the colors that are appealing to you and no more baby beds.

Your child is not yet old enough to be disgruntled about what furniture you purchase for their bedroom. They may however voice their opinion on how they want their walls colored, their bedding design, and possibly even curtains. But the major purchases, you still have all the say with little to nil backlash from a disgruntled teen. It is that prime age - ranging from the sweet yet ages of 8 to 10 going on to the more worrisome ages of 12 to 14. However, if you play your cards right, the furniture you purchase this time will take them through their high school graduation, to their college dorm and graduation, through their first pad of their own, and right on to their first home to be later used after years of guest room furniture hopefully, to their own children’s bedroom furniture.

Amish made furniture has the durability to last lifetimes. It has classic styles that never go out of date. It is beautiful, yet not considered to manly by a female, nor to girly by a male. It is perfect in every way furniture should be. You can easily outfit a girl or a boys bedroom in this transitioning ages with Amish made furniture that will carry them through right out your door and into their, that is if you can let it go with the kids!

  1. My parents bought us an Amish made cradle for our first baby. We were thrilled with it. We ended up using it 4 more times and then we put it in the girls room and they used it for their dolls. Almost as soon as the youngest was done playing with dolls, the oldest had her first baby. We cleaned up the cradle, bought new bedding and gave it to her. She was thrilled. It still looks almost new and it's seen a lot of use in the last 21 years. It's no wonder we turned to the Amish to provide the rest of our furniture too.

  2. That's an interesting open pattern on the headboard of the Edinburg Bed. I think I'd want it open, which is what it looks like in the picture. It has a one of a kind look and I have a couple of ideas that would make it uniquely mine.

  3. I just finished this process and I thought it would be more painful letting go of the things that marked the end of my little girls childhood. Quite the contrary. It was such fun looking through the selections of Amish made bedroom furniture with her. I know I'm going to enjoy these next several years as she becomes the woman I can already see glimpses of now.

  4. I have 12 year old twins, one girl and one boy. I promised them that they could redo their rooms for their 13th birthdays. Until now, everything matched but I believe this is the parting of the ways. Patsy loves the Edinburg bed and Patrick says it's too sissy looking for him. She wants frills and he wants dragons. There will be no mistaking which room belongs to which child fron here on out. I'm not complaining, but it does make me kind of sad. My babies are growing up.

  5. When my daughter started school she asked for lots of frills in her bedroom. We used the Disney Princesses to dress it up and she was in heaven. She will be graduating from grade school and heading to middle school in the fall. She wants a 'grown up' bed and dresser and her walls painted a lady like lavender. I'm going to miss the princess theme. We know we want Amish made furniture for her room because it will move with her when she finishes college. She likes the Edinburg but can't decide between the oak and cherry finish.

  6. Purchase a bedroom furniture set that will last for years with the same comfort and outlook. Buying bedroom furniture sets should reflect your tastes and match the décor of your room.
